A Tattered Web

Oh what a tangled web we weave when once we practice to deceive. A bitter tale of what happens when love becomes an obsession... Tough career policeman Sgt. Stagg (Lloyd Bridges) learns that his son-in-law Steve Butler (Frank Converse) is seeing another woman. As an indulgent father Sgt. Ed Stagg confronts "the other woman" and demands that she ends the affair to save his daughter Tina (Sallie Shockley) from the shock of finding out the truth. In the ensuing argument he kills her accidentally but she is dead none the less. Fate decrees that he and his partner Sgt. Joe Marcus (Murray Hamilton) are assigned to investigate the murder. Sgt. Ed Stagg weaves a web of intrigue and false trails that lead to two innocent men - one his own son-in-law, the other a hopeless derelict (Broderick Crawford).
