The man of violence
in whose place
Christ died
The incredible story of the man they let free so that they could crucify Christ. One of the great epics of humankind depicting the hugely significant period of early Christian history - Barabbas the murderer, who is haunted by the ghost of the prophet for the rest of his life.
Barabbas, a thief and a murderer, is pardoned by the people of Jerusalem instead of Christ. He then returns to a life of crime, is arrested and sentenced to hard labour in the silver mines. After many torturous years spent there, he becomes a gladiator and, eventually, a freeman. But it is only when he himself faces death by crucifixion that he finally discovers his own faith.
