ONE CLINICALLY COOL MAN, AND THE EMOTIONS OF TWO SPECIAL WOMEN
Formula One racing campion Bobby Deerfield takes no chances, on or off the track. When a team mate has an accident Deerfield visits him at a clinic in the Swiss Alps to find out what went wrong. In the clinic he meets a strange young girl, Lilian. She is impulsive, sensual, questioning. The cold, unemotional driver is fascinated, and troubled, by this capricious creature who is so eager to learn of his thoughts about death.
But Deerfield thinks more about death than life. Together they decend the mountains to the lakes, then on to her Florence home. Deerfield returns to Lydia in Paris. She senses the possiblity of losing him, but still by his side during races on the European circuit. Then, for a while, Bobby is drawn back to Florence and the mysterious Lillian. Lydia, determined to fight for Bobby, vists Lillian for a confrontation. The emotional triangle is resolved only through tragedy. But the sadnes is illuminated with courage and love.
