When the travelling carnival hits town, so do the hustlers, the con-men, the barkers, the freaks-a unique breed of people, part of the American way of life. To Donna, a young waitress, the razzle-dazzle, the loud music, the bright lights mean escape from the boredom of her life in small town America. Running away to join the carnival, she is forced to become a member of a troupe of strippers and her fast developing relationship with Patch the Clown, threatens his friendship with carnival manager, Frankie.
