The Comedy that dreams the impossible scheme! Louis Malle's 'Crackers' is a slick comedy set in the Mission District of San Francisco. It is the story of eccentric citizens attempting to fight back at the system. Garvey (Jack Warden), a shameless profiteer, presides over a pawnshop full of ownerless junk. When he decides to take a trip to see his 90 year old mother, he is afraid of burglary. So, he employs Dillard (Sean Penn), a would-be musician and part time thief to install a new burglar alarm system. However, unfortunately for Garvey, Dillard together with an unscrupulous out-of-work contractor Weslake (Donald Sutherland) are in on the plan to take revenge on the man everyone loves to hate, and who hates everyone he loves. © Universal City Studios, Inc.
