FROM THE HUGH LEONARD NOVEL "HOME BEFORE NIGHT"
Two days ago Charlie's Da passed on, but he won't lie down and he won't shut up...!
"Constantly funny...do not miss this film. Shaun Usher, Daily Mail"
Martin Sheen stars as Charlie Tynan a successful Irish playwright living in New York who's called home to Ireland by the news of his father's death. When alone in his old home after the funeral Charlie is suddenly confronted with the old man's cantankerous ghost (Barnard Hughes). The two embark on a dream-like exploration of the past where colourful characters and significant and amusing situations are brought to life including his sanctimonious mother, his tyrannical employer and his first hilarious attempts at seduction. A warm hearted, humorous and absorbing film with true Irish flavour, "Da" is a fantasy father and son reunion where ghosts of the past and present collide.
"Martin Sheen is excellent and totally absorbing" Barry Norman Film '89
