Small Box - Retail Tape
3 vintage episodes featuring Walmington-on-Sea's Home Guard - those crack troops for whom Old Father Time poses a greater threat than the Fatherland!
A BRUSH WITH THE LAW
"I've got him! I've got him!"
ARP Warden Hodges has finally caught Mainwaring out: the Home Guard has left 60 watt bulb burning in the church hall in defiance of the black-out. So in the middle of an inspection, as Pike is explaining how to clean a rifle by leaving it in a 'bit of Harpic' over night, the warden arrives armed with a summons for Mainwaring to appear before a magistrate!
BRAIN VERSUS BRAWN
During a conversation with the Colonel at the Rotarian Dinner, Mainwaring decides that his men are well able to compete for places in the proposed new 'crack commando' unit of the Home Guard. After all, what they lack in brawn, they will make up for in brains...
KEEP YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL
"I said fall out, not fall down"
Concern about the condition of some of the 'older' members of the Home Guard, precipitates a frenzy of 'rejuvenating' activity on the part of Mainwaring and his men. Hence Mainwaring's acquisition of a wig while Wilson submits himself to a 'gentleman's abdominal corset!" But these efforts are overshadowed by the appearance of Jones, Godfrey and Frazer complete with make-up usually reserved for the dear departed.
