East of Sudan

The Moslems rally behind their mystical leader, the Mahdi, to rid themselves of British influence generally and of General Gordon in particular. From the first outpost to fall, a small and unlikely escape party is thrown together. There are only four members: a young naive subaltern, a tough, uneducated trooper, a prim and proper English governess, and her charge, a pretty native girl.
