I'm gonna live forever!
Fame. It's what eight talented teenagers all hotly pursue at New York's High School for Performing Arts. It's a stunning combination of drama and pathos. And it's an explosion of pulsating song and electrifying dance that's one of the most memorable musicals of this generation. Director Alan Parker (Mississippi Burning, Midnight Express) brings to the screen a profusion of fresh talent in front of the camera (like singer/songwriter Irena Cara and dancer Gene Anthony Ray) and behind it (like choreographer Louis Falco and composer Michael Gore, who won an Academy AwardⓇ * for the film's dynamic score and for the title tune he co-wrote with lyricist Dean Pitchford), and Screenwriter Christopher Gore. The action spills all over the Big Apple from the shadows of 42nd Street to the bright lights of the Great White Way. And the dfound memories and indelible energy of this film inspired a subsequent TV series that showcased Ray and many original cast members. So brace yourself for roof-raising pleasure. "Fame," Newsweek said, "bolts from the gate so fast you have to sit forward to take it all in!"
