LAUGHTERHOUSE is an English rawhide with stampeding geese...a triumphant Christmas story. It's Christmas time on the farm when one of Ben's (Ian Holm) employee's loses his 'trigger finger' in a plucking machine accident. When this comes to the attention of the local Trade Union offical Ben finds himself the victim of a Union Transport boycott preventing him from taking his geese to market. However Ben isn't the sort of chap to take such setbacks lying down and he decided to walk a gaggle of geese the hundred odd miles to market.
The ensuing journey is filled with humorous escapades and touching incidents as Ben, his protesting wife Alice (Penelope Wilton), his sexually awakened daughter Emma (Stephanie Tague), and dour local farmhand Amos (Bill Owen) tackle goose fights, mad motorcyclists, ambushes, biting cold and 'The nosey buggers of Suffolk' on the trail to the big city.
