General Douglas MacArthur, one of the most controversial public figures of our time, is the subject of this superb biographical drama. Gregory Peck's brilliant portrayal of MacArthur illuminates the many contridictory facets of this complex and charismatic man.
This film traces the triumphs and defeats of his career from 1942 including his hopeless psition in the Phillipines, to 1951 and his return to war in Korea which led to his dismissal, by Truman, for insubordination.
Produced by Frank McCarthy, (Patton), and with a screenplay by the team who wrote 'Sugarland Express,' MacArthur has been painstakingly prepared with meticulous attention to historical accuracy.
