Bert Uttanzi (Griffin Dunne) has got it made. A successful architect, he has a happy home in Brooklyn with his wife Annette (Ellen Greene) and their 6-year-old son. But maybe Bert has forgotten one thing.... After working on a major presentation for his boss, Bert almost forgets what will be a major turning point in his life - his 35th birthday. Blowing out the candles on his cake, Bert suddenly hears an unfamiliar and insistent voice from somewhere below his belt and in his trousers. So begins the rest of Bert's life, an outrageous adventure in the hunt for happiness, liberty, love and success. Under the influence of his newly chatty partner, Bert's life dissolves into chaos.
