Mountain Legend - Targa Florio 1965

Last of the truly heroic road races was the legendary Targa Florio which until 1973 was run each Spring in the mountains of north west Sicily. This historic production, a classic from the Castrol Film Library, tells the story of the 1965 event and shows the tortuous mountain turns through the windscreen of a works Healey 3000 as Timo Makinen sets about learning the 45-mile circuit with its 295 corners. The Targa Florio brings out the best in long-distance racing as drivers like Hill, Bonnier, Scarfiotti, Whitmore, Bondurant, Bandini and local hero Vaccerella all chase victory over the 450 mile course beneath a blistering Sicilian sun.
