Dr. Simon Henessey is involved in a fatal car accident... he may be dead but he is not forgotten. Witnessing the accident, Hospital Porter Matthew Harris (Paul McGann) recognises a way out of his mundane existence. Stealing the dead doctors' papers and assuming his identity, he bluffs his way through an interview to become Casualty Officer at The Royal Clifton Hospital. But it takes only one night on the wards for him to realise the seriousness of his crime. Just as detection seems inevitable he is befriended by a beautiful nurse (Amanda Donohue) who covers for his medical inability and so becomes an unwitting partner in his deception. The new Dr. Henessey faces his sternest test when one of the patients dies and at the same time finds himself confronted by a face from the past that threatens to reveal everything.
