Prospero (John Gielgud), an inventor and manipulator of characters, deposed Duke of Milan, has been exciled from his native city by his conniving brother Antonio (Tom Bell-Wish You Were Here, The Krays, Let Him Have It) and his brother's ally, Alonso, the King of Naples, to an island in the middle of a great ocean with his daughter Miranda (Isabelle Pasco-Roselyne and the Lions). Homesick for Milan, he has transformed the island into a small Italian kingdom, complete with palace and elaborate gardens, where he sits and writes his books. Prospero uses the books as a basis of his play, "The Tempest", which becomes the agent of his vengeance against his enemies who have exiled him from his beloved home.
