Quartet

Much acclaimed film version of the novel by Jean Rhys about a young woman (Isabelle Adjani) who finds herself stranded in Paris 1927 when her shady 'art dealer' husband (Anthony Higgins) is jailed for a year, and who is taken up and befriended by an English couple Alan Bates and Maggie Smith. The lecherous attentions of Bates lead her to become his mistress, a fact her husband discovers on his release from jail...
