Set against the background of the World Gathering of Holocaust survivors, held in Israel in 1981, REMEMBRANCE OF LOVE is an emotionally charged story of love, loss, survival and memory. Joe Rabin (Kirk Douglas) stars as the 55 year old American survivor of a Nazi concentration camp.
Recently widowed, he attends the Gathering with his 23 yr old daughter, Marcy, (Pam Dawner) who is covering the event as a journalist. A series of flashbacks constantly remind Joe about his past, when, captured at the age of 17 in the midst of brutal events that he would remember for the rest of his life, he lost contact with his young love Leah, pregnant with their child.
The moving atmosphere to this sensitive production centres around the re-union between Leah and Joe and is a trip back into the past for both of them. It is with regret that they realise that they must part once more, because Leah's husband Saul (Yossi Yadin) has become all too much a part of Leah's present life.
As the Gathering draws to a close, the final emotional ceremony is a brief sojourn reflecting a reunion during which they realise they have lived a lifetime in loving memory.
