It's wartime Belgium and the sound of an aeroplane in distress dominates the night. Suddenly the air is filled with smoke and, as the plane spirals downwards, a lone parachute billows in the sky.
Another Allied soldier has landed in occupied territory. Once again the secret organiisation "Lifeline" must spring into action to operate the escape channels for the soldier's safe passage home. Albert Foiret, the quiet proprietor of the restaurant Candide is at the helm as ever, aided by the elegent Monique and his faithful friends.
To all outward appearances he's a German collaborator who wines and dines Nazi chiefs such as Strumbahnfuher Kessler, but undercover Albert wages the very secret war of resistance...
Originally transmitted in the late seventies, selected episodes of this well-loved BBC TV series are brought together on this special video to form over five hrs of gripping wartime drama.
