Directed by Alan Parker, it is produced by Alan Marshall from an original screenplay by Bo Goldman. Faith (DIANE KEATON) and George Dunlap (ALBERT FINNEY) have four school age daughters - Sherry (DANA HILL), Jill (VIVEKA DAVIS), Marianne (TRACEY GOLD) and Molly (TINA YOTHERS). After 15 years of marriage they have reached a breaking point in their relationship. As George has struggled for and achieved success as a writer and Faith has developed from youth to womanhood, nurturing a family in the process, they have lost touch with one another. The Dunlaps' daughters wrestle with their own emotions at being caught up in their parents' conflict. For Sherry, the eldest daughter, the family upheavel comes at that early point in her adolescence when she especially craves the solid attention, support and love of her family. SHOOT THE MOON begins on the eve of the Dunlap family's dissoultion, and stays with the family during the trying period of seperation, realisation and change.
