When Bill Massey (Dean Martin), a train robber, kills one of his gang and escapes with the money, he finds himself being pursued not only by the survivors of the gang, but also by his lifelong friend, Chuck Jarvis (Rock Hudson), who is now a sheriff.
When Jarvis and Massey finally confront one another, a hail of bullets from the outlaw gang chases them to cover. Then, in spite of the odds against them and the danger they face, these two friends are most exhilarated by the situation. . .for once again they are side by side and battling against what has become a common enemy!
