The Don Is Dead

Revenge is brutal, bloody but immediate! In a barn on a deserted farm, Tony Fargo and Frank Regabulto take delivery of a large amount of heroin. Frank pays for the merchandise. Suddenly, without warning, hi-jackers bursts in. Pulverising bullet fire breaks out. The masked invaders are soon struck down and only then does Vince Fargo, shotgun in hand, climb down from the loft where he has been hidden as a precaution. They recognise none of the hi-jackers. Back at headquarters, Frank receives news that his father, the Don of the syndicate, is dead. At a gathering, nine of the nation's 24 crime families meet and select Angelo De Morra as the new Don. Also at the gathering is Luigi Orlando, who with his wife's needling, becomes power hungry and sinister plans to take over. Luigi's first step is to use Frank's girl friend, Ruby Dunne, an aspiring singer, as wedge between Frank and Don when Frank has to go to Sicily on a deal. Orlando introduces her to the Don, and soon she has a flat with him. When Frank returns, Orlando gets the information about Ruby to him. He unmercifully beats her up and, as a result, open warfare erupts between the different branches of the syndicate. Casualties, including Frank and Vince, are very high. Finally Orlando's plotting is discovered, and he and his wife are murdered. The Don starts putting back together the pieces of the once-proud organisation. © Universal Pictures
