From the director of 'Butch Cassidy' and 'The Sting,' 'The Great Waldo Pepper' is an appealing homage to the boy-men aerial barnstorming pilots of the early 1920's.
Robert Redford plays Waldo Pepper, a daredevil, who regrets having missed the opportunity to trade shoot-outs with the great Geman aces of World War I, and senses that America of the mid-1920's doesn't share his passion for stunt flying.
There are many marvellous dog-fights using the venerable antique planes as it shows director George Roy Hill's love of planes and pilots of this period.
