The Thief Who Came To Dinner

THIS JEWEL THIEF HAD A PASSION FOR CHESS - OR WAS IT WEAKNESS? Better things through progress says Webster McGee as he quits his job as a computer analyst to become, what he terms,an 'honest' thief. He's divorced, young, personable and bright, and he becomes a jewel thief. He teaches himself all the tricks, finds a willing fence in Dreams, and makes Henderling mansions his first heist. The robbery is a success and to give his new enterprise panache, McGee leaves a black king from a chess from a chess set at the scene. He also finds incriminating documents which he uses to blackmail Henderling into introducing him, at a dinner party, to his circle of wealthy Texas socialites. At the party Webster meets Laura Keaton,a beautiful but bankrupt young socialite who is not only fascinated with McGee but with his profession. They team up and start a happy and profitable partnership. Webster's thieving career continues to prosper but then insurance investigator Dave Reilly cmes on the scene. Although Webster wins the early rounds, Reilly is a dogged character who does'nt give up easily.
