The US Air Corps was reluctant to train blacks - and certainly did not them to fly planes. Based on the true events, "THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN" is the story of the "Fighting 99th" - the very first squadron of African-American combat fighter pilots who had to rise against extreme prejudice for the chance to serve their country. Many will crumble under the physical and mental pressures. Others will tough it out to eventually earn their wings...but not necessarily their right to active combat!
