...TRAINED TO KILL
Dealing with a subject of considerable controversy, 'White Dog' is an unusual and powerful study of racism, and is Sam Fuller's first Hollywood film for 18 years. Kirsty McNicol plays an up and coming L.A. actress who takes in a German shepherd dog after she accidentally hits it with her car. She soon discovers that her new pet is a deadly White Dog, trained from birth to hate anyone with black skin. The dog is taken to an animal trainer-scientist (Burl Ives) who quickly becomes obsessed with the idea of curing the animal of its racism, rather than taking the easy way out by just shooting it. The emotional impact of the film is enhanced by Ennio Morricone's majestic score.
